Shital Plasma Nitriding
Plasma Nitriding the Ultimate Case Hardening Process
What Plasma Ion Nitriding actually does to a Surface
A surface-hardening heat treatment that diffuses nitrogen into steel to build a tailored combination of hardness, wear resistance and cleanliness — engineered to the part, not applied as a blanket recipe.
How it works. The workpiece is first brought under vacuum, then heated under low gas pressure to the processing temperature. Nitriding takes place through diffusion, where highly activated nitrogen ions penetrate the substrate and form the compound and diffusion layer.
Because the operating temperature stays between (450 - 550 deg celsius), distortion and core-hardness loss stay negligible — which is why we can hold dimensional control on costly tooling steel rather than just hardening it and hoping.
Anti-sticking, no contamination
No scaling, no oxidation — surfaces stay clean straight out of the chamber.
Virtually distortion-free
No growth in the material and no or minimum white layer to grind back afterward.
Wear & erosion resistance
Higher resistance to abrasive and erosive wear across duty cycles.
Faster processing
Shorter cycle times than conventional gas or salt-bath nitriding.
Environmentally clean
No toxic salts or effluent — one of the most eco-friendly case hardening routes available.
Repeatable metallurgy
Total control over nitride case depth, cycle after cycle.
Withstands high temperature
Case properties hold up under sustained thermal load in service.
Replaces costlier metals
Upgrade a standard steel's surface instead of speccing an exotic alloy.
Tooling and components we treat every week
If it's difficult to nitride with conventional treatments — low to high alloy steels, tool steels, cast iron, stainless — it's the kind of job we take on.
Surface hardness and case depth by material
Ranges achieved across the steels and alloys we treat most often. Every job is quoted against your specific grade, hardness target and case depth requirement.

What we control, on every job
Twenty five years in the same field comes down to three habits we don't skip.
Responsibility
Every entry is monitored and recorded to ensure perfect repeatability across batches — nothing is left to memory.
Augmenting metallurgy
Optimising the structural integrity of components through precise atomic nitrogen diffusion, not a one-size cycle.
Total control
Full oversight of nitride case formation, tailoring properties to the specific needs of your part.
